Our President Mr.S.Santhanam’s Comment on Union Railway Budget 2007.
Railways are the pathways for the progress of the people and pipeline to the future welfare of the country and the track should be well layed without pitfalls. Our Honorable Railway Minister Mr.Laloo Prasad Yadav has done that. Congratulations.
To Highlight a few:
1. There is no change in Passengers Fare but beneficial concessions have
been given in A/C Coaches during slack seasons.
2. There is no change in Freight Charges and there is a reduction of 6%
for iron ores, 5% for Diesel and Petrol.
3. Plan to introduce 3-tier in Container trains
4. Ample benefits have been given with regard to containers by increasing
its structure.
5. Reduction in fares in long distance trains
The concessions and benefits have covered all the sectors of the people,
not leaving even elders and women giving them priority in lower berths.
Uncountable benefits have been showered like wagon productions increased
by 10%, adding 800 bogies, 32 new trains, cushioning the seats in all unreserved
carriages, concessions to students, 6000 vending machines for tickets, E-tickets
in petrol bunks, Post Offices and the ATMs, catering arrangements to all
the trains to mention only a few.
