UNION BUDGET 2006-2007 by PRESIDENT MR.S.SANTHANAM, THE TAMIL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, CHENNAI

The Budget for 2006-2007 presented by our Union Finance Minister Mr.P.Chidambaram deserves hearty welcome by one and all in the trade and industry as well as the common man. While customs duty cut from 15% to 12.5%, encouragement to small car manufacturers by benefits granted and such other concession will go to the benefit of the trade and industry. The common man should be jubilant over the bountiful benefits announced like allocation of Rs.100 crores for green revolution, allocation to universities totalling Rs.100 crores to each, increased outlay for SC/ST welfare schemes, girl child passing 8th standard to get Rs.3000/-, relaxed bank loan to farmers, increased outlay for noon meal scheme, destitute Senior citizen to get more Rs.75 to Rs.200 per month, concession on life saving drugs and rural employment scheme to mention only a few among the bountiful benefits.

The Tamil Chamber of Commerce welcomes the Tamilnadu Government’s Pro-poor no new tax budget for 2006-2007 with basket full of benefits covering welfare measures for all the section of the society as well as for all the sectors of the trade and industry.
