The Consultative Committee of City Chambers of Commerce convened a Felicitation function to Shri Mahendra K.Sanghi, President, The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India on 4th August 2005. Mr.S.Santhanam, Chairman, Consultative Committee of City Chambers of Commerce, presided over the meeting and made his welcome speech. In his speech he pointed out that the Agri Economy plays a vital role in the development of our country’s economy. A Brief Introduction was given by Mr.Murali Venkataraman, President, The Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry about Shri Mahendra K.Sanghi. A Felicitation address given by Mr.Mahendra Parmar, President, Hindustan Chamber of Commerce. Later, Mr.Mahendra K.Sanghi in his address called for a greater coordination among the chambers of commerce and industry located in southern region. He further added in his address about the rural development was another priority area for the Government. Mr.Syed Muneer Ahmed, President, The National Chamber of Commerce proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting was compered by our Honorary Secretary Mr.P.Chandrasekar.

The Chamber felicitated its Patron and Vice President Padmashri Dr.Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti on his attaining 66 years of age and on his getting the prestigious “Sigaram” award by the popular News organ India Today magazine on this date at M.A.Chidambaram Hall. Former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Mr.N.Vittal, presided. Mr.V.Murali, Chairman, Public Relations Committee, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi, Mr.R.Veeramani, President, Southern India Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr.A.Natarajan, Former Director of Doordarshan, Chennai, Dr.Prof.Premeela Gurumurthy Head of the Department of the Indian Music, University of Madras felicitated Dr.Nalli. Mr.S.Santhanam President, welcomed the gathering. Mr.P.Chandrasekar, Hony.Secretary gave a vote of thanks.

The Consultative Committee of City Chambers of Commerce convened a meeting on “Business Oppurtunities in Ethiopia” H.E. Dr.Teketel Forssido, Ambassador of Ethiopia to India was the Chief Guest. Mr.S.Santhanam, Chairman, Consultative Committee of City Chambers of Commerce, presided over the Meeting. Mr.Syed Muneer Ahmed, President, The National Chamber of Commerce gave a brief introduction Speech about the Chief Guest. Mr.Mahendra Parmar, President, Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, proposed the vote of thanks.

Consultative Committee of City Chambers of Commerce convened a condolence meeting on this date to mourn the sad demise of Sri.C.A.Vasudevan, Hony.Secretary of The Tamil Chamber of Commerce, a renowned person and Dedicated his services to the chamber as Hony.Secretary For the last 32 years from the year 1973.

Sri S.Santhanam, presided over the meeting. Sri Syed Muneer Ahmed, President, The National Chamber of Commerce shared his experiences with late Sri.C.A.Vasudevan. A resolution was passed at the end of the meeting.

With Profound shock and grief on the sad demise of Sri C.A.Vasudevan, Honorary Secretary on Wednesday, the 4th May 2005 at Chennai who was one of the oldest Member served the chamber with a missionary zeal. The Chamber extends its commiseration to the family of Sri C.A.Vasudevan at the Executive Committee Meeting of the Chamber held on this date.

The Chamber held a ‘Union Budget Analysis’ Meeting at Comfort Inn The Marina Towers, Egmore.Chennai.

Mr.S.Santhanam, President, welcomed the gathering. In his speech he welcomed the Central & State Budget 2005 for giving full benefits to all sections of people. Mr.Chozha Naachiar, Convenor of the meeting gave a elaborate speech on ancient economy with reference in Arthasastra and Thirukural. Mr.P.R.V.Ramanan, Member-Customs,CBEC (Retd.) Presided and inaugurated the meet. Mr.Ashok Kumbhat, President (All India Payer’s Association – T.N.Chapter), Mr.S.Rajaratnam, Tax Management Consultant, delivered speeches on customs and tax regulations. Mr.V.Ramachandran, Senior Advocate & Past President of TCC, Mr.K.Vaitheeswaran, Advocate gave a speech on methodological aspects of direct and Indirect taxes.
Later a question and answer session was conducted. Mr.C.A.Vasudevan, Honorary Secretary thanked all the members and dignitaries for participating in the Budget Analysis Session 2005.
