Our President Mr.S.Santhanam’s Comment on Union Central Budget 2007.
The Budget presented by our Finance Minister contains all ground welfare measures for all the categories of the society namely upliftment of the Backward classes, most Backward classes, downtrodden in every sphere like education, housing as well as agriculture without discrimination. A special feature is the announcement of new schemes like provision being made for honouring all the greatmen of Tamilnadu in all spheres like sports, literature and services to the society.
Finance Minister has also announced that due consideration has also been given in the introduction of VAT by granting flexible concession wherever they are affected. Also encouraging news is that the proposal of two new shipyards to be established with an investment of Rs.3700 crores in the private sector in Chennai Ennore Port area and Cuddalore district providing employment to 25000 youth in these areas. Doubling the monthly pension given to handloom weavers above 60 years of age from Rs.200 to Rs.400 per month. Creating more Special Economic Zone in the Southern Districts without affecting agriculture.
Finance Minister has to be congratulated for the presentation of a bold and beneficial budget with a confidence that the deficit of Rs.101.38 crores can be overcome by the cooperation of all concerned.
